Autograph letter signed ("Armand"), to Colonel Bland, n.d.. 2 pages, 8vo, neatly inlaid, scattered staining, in French. Armand, a French nobleman serving with the Continental army, discusses the punishment of two soldiers and complains he lent his horse to a soldier but the man was stopped; he requests Bland to set them free to return with the medicinal supplies. VERY RARE. -- KNOX, Henry (1750-1806), Secretary of War . Letter signed ("HKnox") as Sec. of War, to Maj. William North, War Office, 27 June 1786. 1½ pages, folio. Fine. Knox orders North to "repair to the Ohio [Valley] in order to inspect and muster the troops in the service of the United States;" he cautions that "the troops being necessarily much dispersed," North may need to find "an effectual and impartial mode of mustering the troops monthly." -- MCKEAN, Thomas (1734-1817), Signer (Pennsylvania) .
