Illustrations include 70 lithograph plates; 2 large folding maps; 1 large folding railroad profile; 45 copper-engraved plates of fishes, flowers, insects, mammals and reptiles; 8 hand-colored lithographs of birds. (4to), Book 1, half calf and marbled boards, House issue; Part 2 original cloth, rebacked, Senate issue. The heavily illustrated two-part final volume of the Pacific Railroad Reports, covering the explorations for the northern route under the command of Isaac Ingalls Stevens. The excellent series of lithographs reveals in color for the first time the lands explored by Lewis and Clark on their heroic trek across the continent a half-century earlier.
