Title: Report of the Boundary Commission upon the Survey and Re-marking of the Boundary between the United States and Mexico West of the Rio Grande, 1891 to 1896 Author: (Boundary Commission) Place: Washington Publisher: Government Printing Office Date: 1898 Description: 2 volumes (text + album). Text volume illustrated with many photographic plates, plus many folding maps and plates. Album volume with 258 plates, reproduced from International Boundary Commission photographs. Together, 2 volumes. 11½x9" and 11x13¾" (oblong), original green cloth, spines gilt-lettered. Scarce boundary commission report, plentifully illustrated from photographs. The album photographs depict the 258 monuments in situ along the Mexico-U.S. border. Many of these have people posing with the monuments, presumably to give a sense of scale. The U.S. Section of the International Boundary Commission was represented by J.W. Barlow, A.T. Mosman and D.D. Gaillard. Lot Amendments Condition: Text vol.: insect wear, tear at front joint, shaken; library bookplate and scattered blindstamps. Album: extremities worn, general minor rubbing, hinges broken, shaken, front endpaper torn away and other endpapers creased. Overall, very good. Item number: 157540
