RENE RAVO (1904-1998) ECOUTEZ LA VOIX DU MONDE... Circa 1935. 461/4x30 inches. Réunies, Paris. Condition A-: repaired tears in margins; creases in image. Both before and after the war, René Ravo was a prolific poster designer. During the 1930's he followed the modern trends of commercial graphic design, as is evident here in this strong and effective poster for a radio. Against a red background he uses a giant photograph of an ear accentuated by a spray of black air brush. The typography is classically organized with the exception of the word "ecoutez" (listen), to which Ravo adds a slight angle, to attract the viewer's eye. A typical French Art Deco poster unadorned with any excess design elements, that follows the example of the avant-garde designers of the era.
