REED, STANLEY The Royal Tour in India. A Record of the Tour of T. R. H. The Prince and Princess of Wales in India and Burma, from November 1905 to March 1906. Bombay: Bennett, Coleman & Co., 1906. First edition. Contemporary full maroon morocco gilt, all edges gilt. 12 x 9 1/4 inches; xxiv, [513] pp.; frontispiece portraits with tissue guards, full-page map, illustrated after photographs throughout, half-title. Generally a bit worn with loss to foot of spine and corners, scrapes and nicks, upper joint starting, portraits and tissue guards browned, light foxing to endpapers. "Reed, a correspondent for the Times of India, describes in great detail the visit of the Prince of Wales and his wife to India. The royal entourage visited numerous locales, and also took time out for sport. The Prince bagged tiger in Jaipur and Gwalior, and shot grouse and participated in pig sticking near Gujner. Near Hyderabad and Pakhal Lake, he shot tiger, panther, blackbuck, sambur, and other game from a machan" (Czech). Czech, Asia, p. 171. C Estate of Arnold 'Jake' Johnson
