Half-title, original 4pp. prospectus bound after title, 4pp. Les Roses, variétés et sous-variétés inserted after Liv. 3 d. 160 STIPPLE-ENGRAVED PLATES PRINTED IN COLOURS AND FINISHED BY HAND AFTER REDOUTÉ. (Occasional light spotting to the text in the main but occasionally affecting the plates.) Contemporary French calf-backed marbled boards, spines decorated in gilt and black (some light scuffing). A FINE COPY OF THE FIRST OCTAVO EDITION OF REDOUTÉ'S MOST FAMOUS WORK. Issue with one unnumbered title (titles dividing the work into three vols. may also have been available). The text is much revised and gives more information than the first (folio) edition. Nissen 1599; Dunthorne 233. (3)
