Title: ''Recollections of Man Ray in Hollywood'' - typescript, signed Author: Miller, Henry Place: Pacific Palisades, CA Publisher: Date: [c.1970's] Description: Contains: A 5-page typescript with numerous holograph corrections by Miller, and signed by him at the end; also, a 6-page carbon typescript with small holograph corrections; and an initialed holograph note from Miller to his secretary about filing. Each 11x8½". Miller's reminiscence of meeting Man Ray in Hollywood, after his return from France. With much praise for Man Ray, Miller writes: "As a conversationalist Man Ray was inexhaustable, and always exciting to listen to. No matter how banal the subject, he could infuse it with startling and provocative ingredients. The point is, I suppose, that to Man Ray nothing was too banal, too trivial to discuss. He has a way of making everything seem new and, if not important, certainly worth considering, worth pondering. I think this rather rare quality is what fascinated me most about him...". This lot originally offered at PBA Galleries in The Personal Archive of Henry Miller Part I, June 26, 1997. Lot Amendments Condition: Rust marks from paperclip, else near fine or better. Item number: 168619
