Fulton's most extensive work first appeared in London in 1796, but the plates in this French edition, depicting lifting mechanisms, aqueducts, and bridges, are different from those that had appeared in the English version. The map is of a proposed canal between Ambleteuse and Guines. This copy lacks the 16-page letter at the end, (pp. 209-224) on considerations on industrial growth in France and a new system of navigation canals.
