A RARE GILT-COPPER ALLOY REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF BUDDHA
Qianlong seven-character mark and of the period
Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with his right hand held in bhumisparsha mudra, draped in a thin robe covering the shoulders and cascading onto the base, tied at the waist with a sash, his face with a serene expression, eyes downcast under sharply defined arched brows, flanked by long pendulous earlobes, his hair arranged in tight curls rising to a domed ushnisha, incised on the front base with the reign mark 'Da Qing Qianlong nian jing zao' (respectfully made during the Qianlong period of the great Qing), the Buddha is identified by his name rendered in five languages to the left and the right of the base, in Chinese, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Manchurian and Mongolian.
