Rare and highly unusual sixth plate daguerreotype featuring a standing young nude with hair pulled back in ribbons or bonnet, holding with one hand what appears to be a porcelain bust on a table to her side, and resting the other hand on her thigh. Housed in full leather case with small embossed floral design on front cover. Ca 1850. Image resealed in 2010, with note on tape reading, "Hallmark / HB eagle 40." Condition: Daguerreotype appears to be in overall good condition. There is a small scratch in the plate on the child's right leg and some spotting throughout. Image is corroded slightly around the child's belly and (more heavily) at edges. Child's face is blurred slightly due to movement during exposure. Case shows normal signs of wear.
