[7], 119 leaves, written in ink on both sides. 14.7x9.2 cm (5¾x3¾"), original contemporary vellum binding.. Very rare and remarkable manuscript handbook of horoscopes for professional astrologers, featuring a horoscope of Galileo, in addition to major European royalty of the seventeenth century. Though possibly composed in northern Europe, the text appears to have been used by a professional Italian astrologer who subsequently added further horoscopes and annotations. These annotations seem to give biographical details of the subjects' lives with reference to their astrological charts. Besides Galileo, the subjects include King Charles of England ("Carolus Rex Angliae"), Ferdinandus III Rex Bohemia, Maria Anna Arc.D. Austr., and many others. Occasionally, the horoscopes are begun, but not fully completed. The preliminary leaves comprise a partial index. There would appear to be at least two hands making the horoscopes and annotations. Ownership signature of Edward Lyndon noted modern astrologer, to front endpaper dated 1949. Manuscripts of this nature are very rare in commerce, and the present example is especially notable for the inclusion of the horoscope of Galileo.
