Beschreibung:

.21 caliber, 1.875" barrel cluster, no S/N. Blued finish, checked walnut grip with German silver grip cap. Double action, bar hammer, 6-shot folding trigger pill lock pepperbox with post-1813 Birmingham proofs. Frame and hammer engraved with tight foliate scrolls, and on the reverse REGD 7th DECR 1843 / No 86 and on the obverse J.R. COOPER. Joseph Rock Cooper was one of the larger and more successful of the Birmingham gun makers and a founding member of the Birmingham Small Arms Trade. He later was a principle partner in the firm of Cooper & Goodman and during the period was considered "principal designer and manufacturer of British pepperbox revolvers" (Bailey), along with Joseph Bentley. Condition: Very good. Retains minute traces of finish with a mostly oxidized plum patina, showing some minor surface roughness and very light pitting on the frame and in the pill lock recesses. Most of the engraving remains crisp, markings remain mostly legible. Mechanically functional, fair bores that are heavily oxidized. Grip with some wear, scattered mars and minor chipping around the grip strap.
