Group includes: Paul Newman (2001); Out of Print (2003); and Woody Allen (1998). Ralph Schraivogel is an internationally renowned Swiss poster designer who prides himself on designing without specific influences or identification with any one artistic movement. Preferring to create on instinct and chance, he focuses on patterns, structures and spatiality rather than an overall design concept, leading to innovative combinations and a distinctive style. As technology progressed, Schraivogel melded the hand-made with digital design and photography, further setting himself apart from his contemporaries. His repertoire includes posters for cultural events and institutions, as well as logos and publication design. He has won awards at eleven separate biennials, exhibitions and festivals since 1994, and his posters are in several important collections including New York's MoMA. The Poster p. 473.
