Ralph Gout, a silver, tortoiseshell and lacquer open face triple cased pocket watch for the Turkish market, no. 22079, hallmarked London 1776, verge fusee movement, three armed flat balance, balance cock pierced and engraved RG, Tompion type regulator, pierced and scroll pillars, engraved with a Turkish signature and 22079, white enamel dial, black Turkish numerals, sword minute and fleur de lys hour hands, two piece hinged plain polished inner case, two piece hinged middle case, two piece hinged tortoiseshell inlaid and lacquered outer case, the front cover with tortoiseshell and pique work decoration, the back cover with a later lacquer finish, inner case diameter 43mm, middle case diameter 53mm, outer case diameter 62mm Ralph Gout is recorded in Baillie, G. H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World Volume 1 as working in London 1770 - 1836.
