Autograph Album featuring the signatures of Lakota war chief Rain-in-the-Face and WILLIAM F. "BUFFALO BILL" CODY, oblong 12mo, commercial autograph album in padded boards, binding cracked, leaves starting, boards worn. SIGNED BY RAIN-IN-THE-FACE AND BUFFALO BILL AT THE CHICAGO'S WORLD FAIR, 1893. On the same page as the signature by the Hunkpapa war chief are several pencil entries noting attractions at the Chicago World's Fair and dated October 20, 21, and 30, 1893. Rain-in-the-Face, at the time reputed to have been the killer of Custer at Little Bighorn, was a featured attraction at the Fair. Buffalo Bill's signature was acquired at the Fair, as well, and he adds below his signature "Chicago / 1893." The rest of the signatures in the album appear to be family and friends of the owner, and are dated in and around Rochester, N.Y. Rain-in-the-Face signatures are scarce on the market.
