Leveridge, Richard [A collection of songs, with the music by Mr Leveridge. In two volumes, London: engrav'd and printed for the author, 1727] 8vo (19.5 x 12.4cm), engraved music throughout, contemporary panelled calf, lacking frontispiece (by Hogarth) and both title-pages (supplied in photocopy) and pp.29-30 in part 2 (containing the text only for verses 3-22 of "A Yorkshire Tale"), rebacked Richard Leveridge (1670-1758) was a renowned bass singer as well as a composer in his own right. This is one of several volumes of songs that he had published (the address on the title-page is for his coffee-shop in Covent Garden) and it includes songs set to texts by Shakespeare and Abraham Cowley.
