QUR'AN Copied by Safi al-Din al-Qata'i, Baghdad, Rajab AH 713/October-November 1313 AD Manuscript on paper, 295ff. with 13ll. of extremely elegant muhaqqaq , gold rosettes between verses, sura headings in gold within gold outlined panels issuing a small blue and gold palmette into the margin, gold and blue marginal roundels marking every fifth and tenth verse with verse count written in gold Eastern kufic , opening illuminated bifolio (first folio a replacement), first two suwar within gold outlined panels with titles written in white Eastern kufic within scrolling gold arabesques, final folio with colophon signed by Safi al-Din 'Abd al-Mum'in ibn 'Abd al-Haqq al-Qata'i al-Baghdadi in Rajab 713, restoration to edges of some folios, occasional lacunae with modern replacements, contemporary brown morocco binding with tooled medallion Folio 9¼ x 6¾in. (23.5 x 17.5cm.)
