QUR'AN, Arabic manuscript on paper. [18th century?] 354 x 222 mm. 371 leaves, 15 lines in black within gold rules, first two leaves within wide floral border of gold, blue and mauve, gold foil floral devisions, green inked headings, each leaf with marginal inkstamp. AN EXQUISITE METAL AND ENAMEL WORK BINDING, elaborately embossed and engraved with allover floral decorations, sides with a central triple countersunk design of elaborate arabesques, scimitars, etc., including enamel work in red, green and white, with 30 small red gems used as central devices for floral sprays, 20 enameled designs around the central panel fastened with studs at center, 10 in gilt of leaf and floral designs, the remaining of enameled ovals and circles of blues, green and gold; edges and flap similarly decorated and designed; velvet doublures with a central metal arabesque in silver and gold, four engraved metal cornerpieces, finely engraved metal borders in silver and gold; blue morocco folding case. Generally in fine condition.
