This sphere, although fissured, shows extensive regions of gemmy transparent violet amethyst. One can also see color zoning: in quartz, the deeper color grows along pyramidal crystal zones, forming triangular patches of deeper and paler purple color. Measures 2 ¼ inches in diameter (5 ½ cm)
