Preceded by the genealogies & the map; succeeded by the concordances and the psalms. A-D4 (-C1), E-F2, A8, A-Sss8 (no Hhh), A-K8, L2, A-F8, G5. Title pages to the Old and New Testaments, with elaborate historiated woodcut border; double-page woodcut map of the Holy Land with inset of Jerusalem; woodcut initials. (4to) 21x15.5 cm (8¼x6¼"), 19th century hard vellum tooled in gilt at borders and spine, gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt. A handsome copy of the first black letter quarto edition of the King James Bible, in an attractive 19th century hard vellum binding. Unusual for containing both the genealogies and the map, most often lacking. Textually complete, but lacking one leaf of the Genealogies and text at end of Psalms. An albumen photo of a genealogy leaf from a family Bible is mounted on the front flyleaf. Herbert 323. The genealogies are titled: "The Genealogies Recorded in the Sacred Scriptures, According to every Family and Tribe. Wtih the Line of our Saviour Jesus Chist, observed from Adam to the blessed Virgin Mary. By J.S." [John Speed]. The separately printed added concordance is titled: "Two right profitable and fruitfull Concordances, or large and ample Tables Alphabetical... Collected by R.F.H. Imprinted at London by Robert Barker .. 1615." The Psalms are titled: "The Whole Book of Psalmes. Collected into English Meeter, by Thomas Sternehold, Iohn Hopkins, and others... Printed for the Company of Stationers. 1617."
