Beschreibung:

an unidentified private with Colt Army revolver and saber wearing early brass shoulder scales posed beside a small American flag with concentric circles of stars within the canton. The parade-sized flag has been tacked to the rigid canvas to serve as a patriotic prop. The dark uniform worn by the subject is in strong contrast to the white back drop making the image appear visually darker than it actually is. Brass insignia on the kepi is indistinct. We have never seen this studio before but would hazard to guess a Massachusetts origin. Condition: Plate rather soft in focus, else EXC. Housed in partial composition case.
