The buttons are definitely state issue and may be Massachusetts. This ambrotype is similar to another known quarter plate ambrotype of 2nd Lt. Aaron F. Walcott of the 3rd Mass. Battery, formerly Boston Light Artillery, a prominent city militia company. Condition:Plate is EXC with strong tones and clarity. Housed in a complete composition case.
