The drawings depict Brussels (the Sablon, Auderghem (pond of the Rouge Cloître), Anderlecht, the "rue Terarken"), Ghent (Gravensteen, mills), Antwerp (Het Steen), Berseel (castle), Gaesbeek (castle), Vlezenbeek (church, mill), Mechelen (the Brusselpoort), Leuven, Bruges (Kruyspoort and the Minnewater), and Waterloo. Émile Puttaert (1829-was a painter, wood-engraver and architectural draughtsman. He contributed, as an illustrator, to "La Belgique illustrée", "Anvers à travers les âges", "L'illustration européenne", etc. He is a priceless source for the history and architecture of our regions.
