(Trimmed to image, some very light discolouration, neat reinforcing on verso to two folds.) A rare hydrographical map of the Val di Chiana in Tuscany, showing the engineering works designed and built to manage the flooding of the Chiana. The Chiana was an important waterway, connecting the Arno to the Paglia, a tributary of the Tiber. These engineering works were the collective enterprise of pope Alessandro VII and of the then Duke of Tuscany, Ferdinando II. Watermark anchor in circle surmounted by star and letters.
