Puccini is only in Milan for a couple of days before his return to Viareggio, but 'it is incredibly hot, 34 degrees!'. At Viareggio, by contrast, 'there are many Hungarians and beautiful ladies, especially a divine actress! who has now left'. After Viareggio, he will head to Torre del Lago, where it will be cooler. 'I hear that you are well and happy - this gives me great pleasure!'; he will tell her all about a baroness the next time they meet. A postscript refers to a forthcoming trip to Vienna.
