Edition von 1596. Mit allen zu dieser Ausgabe gehörenden Kupfern von G. P orr o: 27 alte ptolemaeische und 37 "moderne" Karten. Unter diesen 4 (1 gefalt. ) Weltkarten (Shirley 193), 1 von Amerika (Burden 93), Teile Amerikas auf sechs weiteren ( vgl. Burden 94/95). - Teilw. stärker gebräunt und fleckig, Ränder vor allem im Bund etwas wasserfleckig und gegen Ende in der oberen Außenecke stärker, davon auch die letzten 3 Karten betroffen. Erste Bll. im Bund verstärkt, Innenrand mit kl. Wurmspuren. Teilw. auch etwas Druckabklatsch von den Ktn. auf gegenüberliegende Textbll. Die Kopftitel hin und wieder gering angeschnitten. Buchblock zwischen Bl. 7 und 8 angebrochen, Bl. 7 leicht geknittert und die Kupferkarte verso alt (vom Verlag?) montiert. Vereinzelt Unterstreichungen in Tinte und Bl. 126 recto mit 2 großen Tintenflecken. Bl. 13 mit großem Riß mittig, davon 1 Kte. betroffen, Bl. 71 unten im Text mit kl. Hakenriß und Bl. 131 mit kl. Randeinriß, sonst nur vereinzelt geringfügige Läsuren. Gest. Welt kte. mit kl. Faltstelleneinriß. Vol. 2 only of second Cernoti edition. But all maps to this 2 vol. work are present. With folding engraved world map and 63 half-page engr. maps in text (attributed to G. P orr o), including America (Burden 93). Parts of America are found on 6 further maps ( cf. Burden 94/95). "The atlas is larger in size than the quarto Venetian publications, and the maps printed on folio sheets with text either above or below them" (Shirley). - Stronger browning or spotting in places, some marginal waterstaining, stronger at end ( incl. final 3 maps), some occasional offsetting. First leaves inner margin reinforced and with a few worm stitches. Head titles occasionally shaved. Crack to book block between leaf 7 & 8, leaf 7 slightly creased and map verso mounted. Very few underlinings in ink, and 2 ink-stains to 126r. Longer tear to leaf 13 (affecting map verso) and a few other mainly marginal tears. Half-calf around 1900, somewhat rubbed and stained, 1 worm stitch and small tear to both ends of lower joint.
