a desirable example of the heavy brass mounted "Russian Pattern" with fine 38.25" straight blade marked GEBR/Weyersberg/Solingen on ricasso with addition of a Crown/FW/57 stamped upside down into top center of guard facing blade. Stylish two-branch brass guard with contoured pommel and block, shield-shaped quillon. No regimental markings noted. Heavy 40" steel scabbard, undented, with correct two rings. This Napoleonic-like monster was made prior to the Franco-Prussian War and served in a Cuirassier Regiment well into the later 19th century. Condition: Overall very good with blade showing patches of grey mottling amidst bright metal, no nicks or pitting. Grip with original leather and wire wrap. Missing throat washer. Undented scabbard dirty grey with loose throat piece and drag edge with minor wear.
