Beschreibung:

The Sunbeam inline twin was introduced by BSA, owners of Sunbeam Cycles Limited, in 1947. A luxury tourer inspired by the pre-war BMW, it was of advanced specification with overhead-camshaft engine, shaft drive and plunger rear suspension. The first S7 version was equipped with balloon tyres, a feature not carried over to the deliberately more conventional, and also lighter and cheaper, S8 introduced in 1949. The front fork and 7” brake were now standard BSA components and there were numerous other changes made in the interests of rationalisation. This Sunbeam twin was purchased by the vendor’s deceased husband in 1984, at which time it was in running order. After riding the machine home following purchase, the late owner never rode it again. ‘ MTB 875’ was kept in dry storage at his home, being cleaned and polished at regular intervals. The machine comes with its original buff logbook, which records the date of first registration as 9th September 1950 and the frame number as ‘S7 2749’, indicating that it was originally an S7 that must have been changed subsequently to what is effectively S8 trim. After its lengthy period of storage, this Sunbeam will require re-commissioning and the usual safety checks before returning to the road with a new owner. Accompanying documentation consists of the aforementioned original logbook and old/current Swansea V5/V5C registration documents.
