Album containing 39 autographed items from 34 Presidents [complete through Truman], including autograph letters signed, letters signed, documents signed, and photographs signed. Various dates. Various sizes, all ink on vellum or paper; mostly tipped-into (tape-mounted along single margin verso) into folio morocco volume gilt, with engraved portaits bound opposite. Includes: WASHINGTON, GEORGE. Printed document signed ("G:Washington"), as General and Commander in Chief of the Forces of the United States. 9 June 1783. One page, 4to, accomplished in manuscript, separated along vertical folds (repaired with archival tape on verso) crossing "h" of signature. Military discharge of John Brion-Matrafs(?) -- ADAMS, JOHN. Printed document signed ("John Adams"), as President. 6 june 1799. Folio, on parchment, papered seal, accomplished in manuscript, creased along folds, several holes along horizontal fold (with some loss to 3 printed words), some spotting and browning. Land grant to Alexander Balmain for 1200 acres in Ohio -- JEFFERSON, THOMAS. Letter signed ("Th:Jefferson"), as Secretary of State to the Governor of Georgia. Philadelphia, 15 March 1791. 2½ pages, 4to, written on rectos and verso, separated along central fold, a few chips on horizontal folds. To the Governor of Georgia, transmitting copies of various acts and resolves -- MADISON, JAMES. Engraved document signed ("James Madison Pressid't"), as President (?), countersigned by R.R. Gurley, Secretary of the American Colonization Society. Np, n.d. One page, oblong 8vo, unacomplished document. The society was formed to colonize Liberia with American negroes -- MONROE, JAMES. Printed document signed ("Jas. Monroe"), as President. Washington, D.C., 28 August 1812. One page, 4to. Additional Instruction to the public and private armed vessels of the United States -- ADAMS, JOHN QUINCY Autograph note to Rev. Henry Colman. Np, 18 November [no year]. One page, oblong 12mo. Extending a dinner invitation -- JACKSON, ANDREW. Autograph letter signed ("Andrew Jackson"), as President-elect(?), to Lieut. E.G.W. Butler. 12 February 1829. One page, 4to, integral address leaf in Jackson's hand, a few tiny holes at fold intersections.
