Lot of 3, including: 6.5 x 6.5 in. statue commemorating one of the most famous presidential pets of the early 20th century, Laddie Boy. In Laddie Boy's mouth is a newspaper clearly imprinted as the Marion Star, Warren Harding's old newspaper. On the topside of the base is the message - Guarding Our President (with GOP highlighted). The side of the base is inscribed Laddie Boy and the reverse side reads Copyright 1921, by Elizabeth Swaffield. Plus a wind-up dog toy, 4.5 x 5 in., identified as Laddie on one side, with Lindstrom Tool & Toy Co. / Made in U.S.A. Patent Applied For printed on opposite side. The lot is accompanied by a postcard featuring a portrait of Laddie Boy, with a poem by Margaret Shanks titled The White House Joy, Laddie Boy. Laddie Boy attended Harding's Cabinet meetings, had his own chair, wore dog tag No. 1, and even led the Humane Society's parade in Washington D.C.
