Orné de planches. Paris, Denné jeune, Poisson (Langlois), 2 vol., 8vo: [2]-xvi-viii-pp.; pl. (quire Q & R inverted in vol. II; foxing). Contemp. marbled calf, gilt orn. flat spines, marbled edges. Good copy. First French edition by Antoine-Jean-Noël-Lallemant (1st Engl. ed.: 1795). Illustrated with fold. plates showing a map of Lisbon, views of the city and monuments, fandango, costumes, etc. Murphy (1760-was an Irish architect and antiquary. He was commissioned in by William Burton Conyngham to make drawings of Batalha Monastery in central Portugal. He returned to Cadiz in where he remained for 7 years studying Moorish architecture. Ref.
