Porter first studied in his home country of New Zealand, then moved to Melbourne and Paris at the Academie Julian. He finally travelled to Britain, where he stayed the rest of his life. His paintings are extremely refined and delicate with acute powers of observation. When he died, his estate was given to The Bloomsbury Workshop which handles all his works. There is a Bloomsbury Workshop label verso.
