Together, housed in the publisher’s maroon cloth folding box with gilt-lettered cover and internal marbled paper, made by Hans Schuberth, according to the printer’s design, as a prototype for the project. Each No. 110 of 150 hand-numbered copies designed and printed by Carol Denison and David Pascoe, and each signed by the author and artist. Series I of a projected series of two that were to collect all 12 broadsides produced by the Calliopea Press, issued during the mid-1980’s. The second series was never completed and as a result, this is likely the only copy in existence that contains all six broadsides completed in the series with the Schuberth prototype cloth box. Broadside poems include: The Good Silence by Robert Bly, art by Micah Schwaberow; Blue Africa by Denise Levertov, art by Maurice Lapp; Ice Fishing by Siv Cedering, art by Carol Denison; Vulture Weather by Diane Wakoski, art by Elizabeth Quandt; Bristlecone by William Stafford, art by Patricia Waters; and A Place Unmade from Sabbaths by Wendell Berry, art by Max Hein. * Also includes two copies of Fine Print, Issue No. 147, July 1985, two folded leaves each, containing reviews for works by various fine press publisher’s / printers, including Calliopea Press, listing broadsides A Good Silence and A Place Unmade from Sabbaths.
