PLATEN, August, Graf von (1796-1835). Autograph manuscript poem, n.d. [?1824], 'Von einem Apfel soll ich singen', a neat copy, 12 lines on one page, 8vo . Provenance : from the Nachlass of F.W.J. Schelling.
PLATEN, August, Graf von (1796-1835). Autograph manuscript poem, n.d. [?1824], 'Von einem Apfel soll ich singen', a neat copy, 12 lines on one page, 8vo . Provenance : from the Nachlass of F.W.J. Schelling. A light occasional poem, of an apple, a riddle-bearing divan, and a girl: 'Nur daß ich, meiner Dumpfheit wegen, Des Räthsels Lösung nicht erreicht, Der Apfelgeberin hingegen Wird jedes Räthsel dünken leicht'. Platen was one of Schelling's most enthusiastic admirers during his years at the university of Erlangen (from 1819). The oriental references and style of the present poem are typical of his productions of this period.
