Plaque du Nouvel An 1933 en grès Böttger, Meissen, circa 1932 A Meissen Böttger stoneware New Year plaque for 1933, circa 1932Modelled by Paul Scheurich of rectangular form moulded with a frame and a depiction in low relief of a chinoiserie figure holding crossed swords standing on a branch opposite a parrot, the top right corner with the date '19/ 33' and the base with 'MEISSEN/ Scheurich', the top of the frame pierced for hanging, 15.4cm by 8.7cm, impressed crossed swords mark with dot between the tips and 'VON 100/ AUSFORMUNGEN/ No' and incised XFootnotesProvenance: Dr. William Funk (1879-1945), chemist and production manager at the Meissen manufactory until 1939 Literature: Rafael 1995a, ill. 54.1 Exhibited: Meissen, Schauhalle der Staatlichen Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, Paul Scheurich 1883-1945 Porzellane für die Meissener Manufaktur, 21 September 1995-10 January 1996; Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 Scheurich sent the plaster model for this plaque to Max Adolf Pfeiffer on 14 November 1932, for which he was paid RM 100.
