A letter of thanks to Neumann for sending his introductory lectures on the theory of relativity ( Vorlesungen zur Einführung in die Relativitätstheorie ), a work which fulfills a growing need for both physicists and mathematicians, 'Die ersten verlangen hauptsächlich zu wissen, warum es überhaupt notwendig wurde, die klassische Mechanik zu erweitern, und die letzteren wollen eine enge Anknüpfung an die Sätze der Analysis und der Geometrie'.
