Manuscript petition, To the right ho[nourable] Lord Carew M[aste]r of his Ma[jes]ties Ordinance
1 page and conjugate blank leaf, folio, [Bristol], [1612/13], signed by Abel Kitchen the Mayor of Bristol, 4 aldermen, 2 sheriffs and 7 merchants, written in a neat secretary’s hand, requesting that they be allowed to obtain munitions closer to the port of Britol, the sole place of supply being London, “your petitioners means of living is only by trade of merchandize and setting forth of shipps to the lands off beyond the seas...and in respect the dangers of the seas bee much the greater by reason of pirates”, small embossed stamp of Terence Bryant Britol collection.
