Du lettrage, seul le titre de l'album est réalisé à l'encre de Chine, les autres mentions étant imprimées et collées. Format : 34 x 24,7 cm. Encadrée. En 1984, les Schtroumpfs sont connus dans le monde entier grâce au succès sans précédent des dessins animés réalisés par Hanna-Barbera. Dupuis et la SEPP décident alors de réaliser une version longue pour le grand écran de l'épisode d'Hanna-Barbera intitulé Le Bébé Schtroumpf. Face au succès remporté par les dessins animés, Peyo s'inquiète, souhaitant que ses personnages ne soient pas oubliés sur le plan éditorial. Il décide alors de se lancer dans la réalisation d'un album reprenant cette histoire, qui sortira conjointement avec le long métrage. Marc Wasterlain et Walthéry participent à l'aventure qui débute au mois d'octobre 1984. Cet album obtiendra un succès commercial sans précédent, s'écoulant très rapidement à plus d'un million d'exemplaires. Il marque le grand retour de Peyo après 4 ans d'absence. Cette couverture est exceptionnelle à plus d'un titre car il s'agit de la seule couverture d'album concentrant autant de personnages majeurs : le Grand Schtroumpf, la Schtroumpfette, le Schtroumpf à Lunettes, le Schtroumpf Grognon, le Schtroumpf Farceur et le Bébé Schtroumpf. La composition est parfaite, l'expression de chaque personnage d'une grande justesse. Notons que quatre des six Schtroumpfs représentés ici figurent parmi les six personnages principaux du film « The Smurfs in 3D » de Raja Gosnell, sorti le 3 août 2011 au cinéma dans le monde entier. In 1984, the Smurfs gained worldwide renown thanks to the unprecedented success of Hanna-Barbera animations. Dupuis and the SEPP (Publishing, Press and Publicity Organisation) decided to produce a feature length film for the cinema of the Hanna-Barbera episode called The Baby Smurf. Due to the sheer success of the animations, Peyo was concerned, hoping that his characters would not be forgotten in their original comic format. He decided to begin publication of an album charting their history, which would be released in parallel with the feature length production. Marc Wasterlain and Walthéry were to take part in the adventure which began in October 1984. This album would achieve an unprecedented commercial success across the globe, with in excess of one million copies being sold in a relatively short space of time. It would mark the return of Peyo after four years of absence. This cover is quite exceptional in more than one regard as it is the only album cover to include so many key characters: Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy Smurf, Grouchy Smurf, Jokey Smurf and Baby Smurf. The mix is perfect, the expression of each character is particularly well drawn. It should be observed that four of the six Smurfs appearing here are amongst the six main characters in the film "The Smurfs in 3D" by Raja Gosnell, released 3 August 2011 worldwide in cinemas.
