The author was an Italian physician, biographer and historian and this book contains his biographical portraits of illustrious men. The year this book was published, 1549, the Pope denied him the title The Bishop of Como and this hastened his move to Florence. Donated by Caliban Books, Pittsburgh, PA. Lot Amendments Condition: Binding heavily rubbed, joints dry and barely holding - leather looks like mid-18th century binding - contents bright, clean, wide-margined. Item number: 254930a
