Beschreibung:

* Pauline Palmer (American, 1867-1938) Cape Cod oil on board signed Pauline Palmer (lower right) 20 x 24 inches. Estimate $ 1,000-2,000 Property from the Estate of John F. Norwood, St. Louis, Missouri Provenance: Private Collector, Pekin, Illinois Sold: Selkirk Galleries, St. Louis, Missouri, 1983, Lot 500 Exhibited: Peoria, Illinois, Lakeview Museum, Pauline Palmer in Retrospect, 1984, no. 21 This painting has been examined under ultra violet light and appears to be in nice condition with no visible significant restoration. The signature appears to be untouched. The pigment seems to have been thinly applied, most noticeably in the upper right quadrant where the artist board is visible under the surface layer of paint. The composition is stable. There are small scattered spots of grime visible in the lower portion of the composition, which appear as if something has splashed upon the surface. Presumably, these could easily be removed with a light cleaning. Overall, the painting shows well.
