four photographs from the interview between Michel eugène chevreul (1786-1889 French Chemist) and nadar on the occassion of chevreul's 100th birthday, 1886
Four gelatin silver prints, printed c.1888, 16.5x12cm (6x5in.). F rom the important series of photographs considered to be the earliest “photo-interview”. The original negatives were made on August 31, 1886. The interview was published in the Journal Illustre of 5 Sept. 1886. These are four images from the series of 27 in the collection of the Bibliotheque Nationale and illustrated in Francoise Heilbrun, Maria Morris Hambourg and Philippe Neagu, Nadar-Les Annees Creatrices: 1854-1860 , fig.120-127, pp.163-164. Paul Nadar (1856-1939) was the son of Felix Nadar. He explored the potential of the "snapshot" and the new Kodak cameras and eventually took over business from his father.
