The holy Rabbi Yochanan Twersky (1903-1982, Encyclopedia of Hassidism II, pp. 95-96), son of Rabbi David of Rachmastrivka, of the Chernobyl dynasty. During the communist era immersed himself in his studies with total devotion, was apprehended and nearly executed and hung; he was however miraculously saved. In 1926 immigrated to Eretz Israel together with his father and grandfather and was active in the establishment of the Chassidism in the Holy Land. In 1950 began serving as Rebbe of Rachmastrivka in Jerusalem and founded the Me’or Einayim Yeshiva. The Chassidism flourished and developed tremendously under his leadership. 14 cm. Good condition, stains and slight wear. Ink-stamps, postage stamps and notations from his various journeys.
