Emblematic woodcut on title-page and B1, woodcut head- and tail-piece, woodcut initial, and one engraved folding plate by DANIEL MAROT after JEAN BERAIN THE ELDER (small repair on verso of one corner). Modern vellum. A Description of the illumination of a part of the Louvre upon the occasion of the birth of the LOUIS (1682-1712) of France, Duke of Burgundy, son of Louis, the Grand Dauphin, and father of the future King Louis XV. The illumination was the work of Jean Berain the Elder, who in 1674 was appointed "Dessinateur de la Chambre et du Cabinet du Roi" in the Menus-Plaisirs, becoming responsible for the artistic designs and decorations created for court spectacles.
