Paris: Dusacq, 1845-1854. 2 o (376 x 270 mm). 60 hand colored engraved plates after ANNICA BRICOGNE (plates 1-30) the others unsigned, printed in colors and finished in colors by hand (some light occasional staining). Contemporary quarter blue sheep, spine lettered and decorared in gilt and blind (some light rubbing, joint repaired). Provenance : Peter Jay Sharp (his sale Sotheby's New York, 13 January 1994, lot 21). FIRST EDITION of this "selection of the loveliest roses" a beautifully colored example, combining great artistic achievement, with a valuable scientific record. Little is known about the artist Annica Bricogne. The text includes a description of the cultivation techniques and the growing habits of each specimen.
