Title: Panoramic photograph of the Los Angeles Fire Department, Preparedness Parade, June 14, 1916 Author: Place: Los Angeles Publisher: M.P. Weaver and Lloyd Photo Co. Date: 1916 Description: Panoramic gelatin silver print photograph. Approximately 15x104.5 cm (6x41¼") plus margins, in a period wood frame. Overall 28.5x117.5 (11¼x46¼"). The rank and file of the Los Angeles Fire Department in full uniform, each holding a US flag, assembled for the Preparedness Day Parade, June 14, 1916. The Preparedness Day Parade was to protest President Wilson’s policy to not prepare for involvement in the first World War. The Preparedness Movement was a national campaign led by Leonard Wood and Theodore Roosevelt, who sought to strengthen the U.S. military after the outbreak of WWI. More than 60,000 Angelenos took part in the march. Signed on the reverse by one of the attendees, Charles B. May, with notes as to his location in the photograph and stating that he made the frame. Lot Amendments Condition: Frame lightly worn; photo not examined out of frame, appears fine. Item number: 264887
