Framed .Condition: upper margin of Death of Cook dampstained, unexamined out of frames. the famous set of maritime views from cook's third voyage. the views depicting the Resolution and Discovery at anchor in the society and Sandwich Island and including the Death of Cook scene. .These aquatints are after drawings by James Cleveley, ship's carpenter on the expedition and a proficient amateur artist. His brother, John Cleveley was a maritime painter who worked them up into finished watercolours. . He was eventually appointed draughtsman to Sir Joseph Banks' voyage to Iceland in 1772 .
