ZADKINE' (on the front of the base) and with the foundry mark 'Susse fondeur, Paris' (at the side of the base) bronze with brown patina 1181/8in. (300cm.) high Conceived in wood in 1955-1956 and cast in bronze in a numbered edition of four ( 0/3-3/3 ) plus three artist's proofs. This exemple was commissioned to the artist by Gustave J. Nellens in 1963 and was exhibited at the Casino of Knokke. Zadkine subsequently cast no. 2/3 in 1965, no. 3/3 in 1966 and no. 0/3 in 1970.
