Two signed photograph portraits each a 4 x 6 inch gelatin silver print, framed together (21 x 16 inches) and matted: 1. A portrait of Sir William Osler, seated sideways, arm resting on chair, signed "Sincerely yours/ Wm Osler" in mount beneath portrait, Baltimore, 1905, imprint in mount "Mesny Balto." 2. A portrait of Harvey Cushing, inscribed "Dr Henry Barton Jacobs/ from his friend/ Harvey Cushing" in mount beneath, imprint in mount "Alman & Co," [1905]. A CLASSIC OSLER PORTRAIT TAKEN JUST BEFORE LEAVING BALTIMORE, framed with A RARE IMAGE OF A YOUNG CUSHING, AGED 36. Cushing inscribed to Dr Henry Barton Jacobs, one of the original "latchkeyers," along with W.S. Thayer, the young physicians who moved into the house next door to the Oslers and were provided a key so they could use the Osler's library at will. A hole was cut in the backyard fence so that Osler, who resisted the acquisition of a telephone, could access the phone next door in turn. Eventually, the latchkeyers would include Cushing and Thomas Futcher.
