Beschreibung:

ORSON WELLES (1915-1985) Signed film still from Citizen Kane. A black and white film still inscribed "Best regards/Orson Welles." 10 x 8 inches (26 x 20 cm); framed. Visually fine, not examined out of frame . A rare signed photograph depicting Orson Welles in his most famous role as Charles Foster Kane in his 1941 masterpiece Citizen Kane . In the scene presented here, an older Kane is shown with his second wife Susan Alexander Kane, played by Dorothy Comingore, who assembles a jigsaw puzzle in a vast room at Kane's palatial mansion, Xanadu. The puzzle is symbol of the loneliness in their marriage and the scene predicts Kane's demise. The boxed puzzle is seen again in the film, in the scenes after Kane's death when his possessions are being considered, along with the mysterious "Rosebud." Signed stills from Citizen Kane are infrequent at auction. Acquired from Gary E. Combs Autographs in 1999. C The Collection of Nancy Salisbury
