Throughout the years BMW has proved that the quality of their motorcycles is absolute. The big twins with shaft drive were steadily improved as this new market gathered strength. Beautifully constructed with a 599cc horizontally opposed twin cylinder overhead valve air-cooled unit with a five-speed gearbox, this machine was purchased new by the vendor in March 1978. In black, from new it has had a Polaris fairing, stiffer fork springs, panniers and cylinder bars, while semi-electronic ignition was fitted at approximately 5000 miles, and BMW touring handle bars and cabling fitted in 1983. With a record of all parts and servicing costs, original BMW tool and first aid kit, and featuring a stainless steel exhaust system, we understand this machine has covered less than 15,000 miles from new. Including the original handle bars cabling and front indicators, this quite low mileage one-owner example comes with Swansea V5, road fund licence until February 2004 and long MoT.
